Adolf “Adi” Dassler founded German sportswear manufacturer Adidas in 1949. Over the past 70 years, the brand has truly evolved from its racing and football origins into a multinational player in the footwear market.

The company’s first performance-related discovery took place in 1936 in the running space, and its effect now extends to football, basketball, tennis, skateboarding, fencing and other sports.

Iconic silhouettes like Superstar and Stan Smith, introduced in 1969 and 1973 respectively, also brought considerable fame to the brand in the long run, especially in basketball and tennis. Additionally, in New York, Boston, Chicago, and elsewhere, styles designed for sport like the adidas Top Ten (1979) and the adidas Forum (1984) became essential lifestyle footwear.

Demand for 3-Stripes branded sneakers has grown dramatically in recent years, thanks in part to Kanye West’s Yeezy and Pharrell Williams’ Humanrace. Besides musicians, the brand has also partnered with high-end fashion brands, including Prada.

In 2022, the footwear giant is advancing its classic styles with brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, Beyoncé’s IVY PARK and more. Let’s take a look at some standout collaborations from 2022 from the label.

Here are five exciting 2022 partnerships from Adidas

1) Adidas x Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny quickly becomes Adidas’ most influential associate, besides Ye. The Puerto Rican crooner has grown a sneaker empire since first teaming up with the shoe company in 2021, hitting multiple iterations of the Forum Low as well as his own renditions of the classic Response CL.

In 2022, Benito recently revisited the classics with a fresh take on the iconic Forum shoe.

This new collaboration shoe, like the old “Easter Egg” forum, has been wrapped in a pastel aesthetic, this time in blue tones. The shoe has been appropriately dubbed “Blue Tint”, with a bolder blue on the three stripes, eyelets, collar and outsole, and a softer blue on the suede mudguard and interior. The lowest underlays were dressed in the lightest blue of them all.

The sturdy look of the shoes can be attributed to the metal buckles used on the nylon ankle straps, a protruding foam heel detail and removable double-stacked tongues that characterize the “Blue Tint” pair.

The functional styling of Forum leather and suede has been enhanced with a drawcord at the heel. The sneaker’s frosted footbed and blue rubber outsole provided stability and traction comfort to the wearer. The “Blue Tint” shoes arrived with a pair of pastel pink and yellow drawstrings for alternate styles, along with extra pull tabs for a chunky appeal.

The Forum Low Buckle “Blue Tint” edition was released exclusively in Puerto Rico, where the rapper was born. They were offered for $160 and will likely be available in other locations soon.

Beyoncé, the CEO of IVY PARK, recently launched her Super Sleek sneakers in partnership with the German multinational. The new sneaker style stems from the same long-standing Adidas x IVY PARK synergistic partnership.

As part of their innovative Super Sleek edition, they presented a creative take on the legendary Stan Smith shoe.

The shoe, which consolidates a platform design and is made of canvas and leather with white sand shades and cactus green wiring, grants a variety of influences from Adidas’ repertoire, with classics like the Samba.

The revamped shoe is meant to give you some flair when you return for your favorite music festival, outings or outdoor activities, and is driven by the playfulness of the spring season, with warm weather and all its many activities.

The Super Sleek has a football-inspired Samba tongue, three-strap closure and classic T-shaped toe box, all of which are infused with adidas sportsmanship. A gum-colored, translucent platform sole elevates the forefoot of the Super Sleek, adding a unique touch.

The Super Sleek Kicks will retail for $120. The 3-pair set of Super Sleek socks, which will launch alongside the shoes, is $35. The collection is set to drop Friday, May 27, both online and through select retailers worldwide.

3) Balenciaga x Adidas

The shoe brand’s latest collaborative project has been unveiled with luxury fashion house Balenciaga. The two geniuses released a wide assortment of clothes and shoes.

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. ET, the luxury brand presented its joint collection at the NYC Show Spring 23, titled Balenciaga Resort 2023 Runway.

Normally, high-end crossovers go public weeks after their unveiling, but Balenciaga stepped things up by posting the full 33-piece collection on its official e-commerce site the same night of the Resort 2023 show. Pre-orders for the collection are accepted until May 29, 2022.

The collaboration’s apparel range included track jackets, pants, oversized hoodies, baggy jeans, t-shirts, sports leggings, strappy dresses, football shirts, tank tops, hoodies, etc. Prices for these garments ranged from $210 to $5,500.

For the footwear collection, the powerhouse duo presented three different pairs. Two colorways of Balenciaga’s Triple S trainers, blue and white, were shown embellished with Adidas’ Trefoil logo. Rounding out the team’s roster of footwear is the Speed co-branded sneaker. The former are priced at $1,100, while the latter are marked at $995.

Adidas x Gucci unveiled their capsule collection in February 2022. As part of its Milan Fashion Week show, the luxury fashion brand showcased its retro 1970s sportswear-inspired collection in partnership with the shoe brand .

Their collaborative Fall 2022 show and original designs by Alessandro Michele took the fashion industry by storm. While the catwalk designs are a mix of elegant couture and sportswear, this collection is more athetic, drawing inspiration from 1970s clothing and accessories.

Both men’s and women’s styles have been introduced in this assortment. Joggers, tracksuits, shorts, polo shirts, pleated skirts and more refined pieces like bowling shirts, flared pants, vests and sweaters are all part of the collection.

The collection was well loaded with nostalgic flair, bright colors, geometric patterns and elements from both brands.

They also offered highly sought after Gazelle shoes in a selection of colors. Rainbow platforms will be available as a spectacular choice in the footwear lineup.

In addition, Gucci’s Horsebit loafers have also received the Adidas touch, with the characteristic three stripes. Additionally, the capsule also featured traditional clogs, leather shoes, and terry cloth pads. Finally, handbags, shoulder bags, duffel bags and camera bags have been made accessible in the range of accessories.

On June 7, the collection will be available in select Gucci stores, in exclusive pop-ups, on the Gucci website and on the Adidas CONFIRMED app.

5) Pharrell Williams x Adidas

Pharrell Williams’ Humanrace Sichona has always been one of our favorite Three Stripes models lately. In 2022, these much-loved silhouettes received an all-new “Black” makeover, which is by far the best looking.

If you’re wondering how Pharrell came up with the nickname for his latest sneaker, it was sparked by his knowledge of Native American Dakota tribesmen.

The Sichona, which stands for “barefoot” or “connected to the ground”, has a Primeknit upper similar to that of the Yeezy Boost 380. Chunky laces thread through the ankle in an all-black colourway. If you want to switch things up a bit, the shoe also comes with a pair of light blue laces.

Last year, adidas and Pharrell Williams launched the Humanrace Sichona silhouette to pay homage to the Dakota community and celebrate the organic beauty of the human body, which inspired the sneaker’s fluid design. Now available bit.ly/3lFeFRi

A curved midsole made from the shoe brand’s new Futurenatural material is positioned below for added comfort with every step. For a clean design, the Hu triangle extends from the back of the heel and “Humanrace” is written on the side rails in a pastel pink hue.

These pairs were released on Saturday, May 21 through the CONFIRMED app for $180.
