Box Score The Aggies returned to Eller Media Stadium for a pair of games on Day 2 of the Boyd Gaming Classic, dropping Game 1 to Houston 11-7 and Game 2 to UNLV 13-5. Ramsay Lopez maintained his strong streak, combining to hit 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI while walking three on the day. Maya Martinez also had an impressive day, going a combined 3-for-7 with a home run, a double and seven RBIs.

Felicia De La Torre (1-5) started in the circle for the Aggies, allowing 7 runs with one strikeout in 1.1 innings pitched.
Saleen Flores (1-3) picked up the win for UNLV, going 1.0 innings, allowing one hit and recording one strikeout.
Houston scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by xx, ending the inning with a 4-0 lead. More of the same followed in the second, when the Cougars fired a three-point blast at xx field, extending their lead to 7-0. Jordan King entered the game for De La Torre, recording her first strikeout of the day on a pitch that caught the outside corner. The Cougars would add two more runs before the end of the inning to secure a 9-0 lead.
In the top of the third, the Aggies charged the bases before Yazzy Avila hit an RBI single through the inside space to put NM status on the 9-1 board. Jillian Taylor entered the game for Riley Carley and hit a sack fly to left field, easily scoring Tanori from third, turning it into a 9-2 ball game.
Jordan King allowed a first single late in the third before settling into a rhythm, generating a strikeout to end the inning unscathed.
At the top of the fifth, Yazzy Avila and Jillian Taylor reached second and third base before Kayla Bowen stepped up to the plate, generating enough contact on the ground ball to score Avila and cut Houston’s lead to six, 9-3. Maya Martinez came up to bat next and blasted her third homer of the season, scoring Taylor from third and making it 9-5.
After a fifth-inning shutout, a two-run homer late in the sixth knocked King out of the game, finishing with a 4.0 innings pitched stat last line allowing four runs with four strikeouts.
In the top of the seventh, Martinez recorded his third RBI of the day with a double deep into the left-field spread, scoring Avila from second and cutting Cougar’s lead 11-6. Paige Knight followed by a football down the left field line that went through the third baseman’s legs, allowing x to easily cross the plate and make it an 11-7 four-point ball play. A x by x and x by x ended the Aggie rally and the game.
Second game | NM State 5 UNLV 13
The Aggies met UNLV for the second time in as many days, with NM State dropping the decision 13-5.
Laurali Patane (0-3) got the start for NM State, allowing seven runs (six earned) before Felicia De La Torre and Jordan King came on and handled most of the game’s action. De La Torre finished with a stat line of five runs allowed with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings, while King went 2.0 innings, recording two strikeouts and awarding a run (unearned).
Jenny Bressler (8-1) picked up the win for the Rebels, going 3.2 innings without allowing a hit and recording four strikeouts.
Ramsay Lopez continued his hot streak, starting the match with a brace across the gap, before Yazzy Avila got on board with a field single, moving Lopez to third, stealing second to put two in scoring position. Maya Martinez made it easy for the runners by hitting a shot deep into left field, giving the Aggies a 3-0 lead.
The Rebels used a trio of extra hits to put six runs on the board before recording their first out of the inning. Laurali Patane managed to get two quick outs before an RBI brace made it 7-3. Felicia De La Torre came on for Patane, ended the inning with one strikeout.
Gaby Aragon started second in the batter’s box, drawing a walk before a successful curry by Jayleen Burton moved her into scoring position. Lopez came on and scored her second brace of the game, scoring Aragon from second to make it 7-4. Yazzy Avila loaded the bases with a bunt before Maya Martinez anchored in an RBI sacrifice, scoring Burton and cutting the Rebel lead to two, 7-5. UNLV replaced their third pitcher of the game, recording a pair of outs to end the first half of the second inning. Felicia De La Torre returned to the circle recording a first pitch before a pair of home runs to center field and an RBI triple made it 11-5. A flyout to center field ended the inning.
Late in the third, the Rebels added another run after a solo home run Felicia De La Torre bringing the score to 12-5 in favor of the rebels. Jordan King came on to relieve De La Torre, registering a strikeout and a flyout to finish the third.
The next inning, the Rebels’ leadoff hitter hit an error and advanced to third. Later in the inning, UNLV hit a single down the middle, making it 13-5.
NM State returns for the final day of action at the Boyd Gaming Classic in Las Vegas on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. MT, featuring a matchup against #5 Washington.
